“More greatly have we turned our hearts and minds to things spiritual. We can truly say, ‘What profiteth it a nation if it gain the whole world and lose its own soul.’ With gratitude in our hearts for what has already been achieved, may we, with the help of God, dedicate ourselves anew to work for the betterment of mankind.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Thanksgiving proclamation, November 1934
I’m grateful to God:
- Here at least, we couldn’t have asked for better fall weather. The harvest went well, and agriculture is an economic bright spot.
- We can change our government if we want to, without bloodshed.
- We are endowed by our Creator with free will and inalienable rights.
- Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
