NPR is in full pledge-drive mode for the “shutdown.” They interviewed someone from Goldman-Sachs who said not raising the debt ceiling would be a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions. President Obama also says it would be a very bad thing not to raise the debt ceiling. He was very clear. Every responsible member of the Republican party leadership agrees, and the IMF (They’re International!) says we have to deal with the shutdown and stuff right quick. All the responsible grown-ups agree: The shutdown is very very bad, and not raising the debt ceiling would be far far worse.
You know who the responsible grown-ups are, right? They’re the immensely talented and justifiably wealthy meritocrats who have been running everything for the last thirty years. Those who have made the United States of America exactly what it is today.
So think carefully before you disagree with them.
