Islam, again

Muslims shouting “allah akbar” kill a dozen unarmed people, yet again, and some Christian clergy worry that there will be increased opposition to Islam. What, will fewer people will go to Friday prayers at the new mosque that used to be a church? Will fewer men in prison renounce Christianity for Islam? Those concerns miss this important point: Islam is a false religion. Muhammad was not really God’s prophet. Christian clergy should worry about the eternal fate of Muslims, and work hard to secure their salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

As far as the position of Muslims in western society, experience suggests politicians should worry less about Muslims being massacred, and more about Muslims massacring others. Getting this backwards has contributed to the rise of the anti-immigrant sentiment our elites condemn.

Sisyphus, after a life spent in greed, deceit, and murder, is condemned to roll a heavy stone up hill. Every time, just before it reaches the top, he slips and the stone rolls back down. One could imagine the prophet* Muhammad condemned to walk up to the podium to accept a prestigious award. Every time, somewhere along the way, he slips on a banana peel, and everyone laughs and laughs. I bet he’d really hate that.

Since I can’t draw, the reader must imagine here an animated gif of the prophet* Muhammad slipping on a banana peel, forever.

After the latest Islamic massacre, the real danger to Muslims isn’t Republican mobs burning all the mosques, or (really the same thing) someone snubbing the local podiatrist at the orchestra fund-raiser. The real danger to Muslims is the same as it ever was: that they’ll go to Hell when they die. Because Muhammad was not a real prophet, and Islam is a false religion.

UPDATE 9 January 2015: Rod Dreher on “Je suis Charlie

*Remember, he’s not a real prophet. And yet, Muhammad might have been a decent enough guy for his time and place, possibly even a Christian of some sort. Maybe his followers made up a bunch of nonsense about him and killed everyone who disputed their claims. It would fit the pattern.

  2. ‘…some Christian clergy worry that there will be increased opposition to Islam.’ You wouldn’t want to name any names, would you?

As for heaven or hell, these killers seem to be hell-bent on getting into the after-life as quick as they can. I suspect most of our people will imagine them going to hell, and for my money that’s good enough.

    1. No, that wouldn’t do anybody any good. Anyway it’s more a type than a particular individual, maybe even a stereotype.

I think it’s doctrine that nobody in particular in known for sure to be in Hell, but it’s hard to see how some people could avoid it.
